Folder Combo

Select from several Internet Explorer items that you can relocate to different locations on either the same drive or other drives.

The items that can be moved are:

  • Cookies - the Cookies folder will be moved to the new location. Example: choose C:\ to make C:\Cookies your new Cookies folder.
  • Favorites - the Favorites folder will be moved to the new location. Example: choose C:\ to make C:\Favorites your new Favorites folder.
  • History - the Cookies folder will be moved to the new location. Example: choose C:\ to make C:\History your new History folder.
  • Temporary Internet Files - the Temporary Internet Files will be moved to the new location. Example: create a folder called C:\Temporary Internet Files, then choose C:\Temporary Internet Files to make C:\Temporary Internet Files your new Temporary Internet Files folder. If you just choose C:\ as the new location for your Temporary Internet Files folder, your entire C: drive will become the Internet Explorer Cache. We have implemented safety precautions which will not allow IESweep to delete the Cache if it is the root directory of a drive (ie: C:\) or if it is the Windows folder, however, turning an entire drive into the Internet Explorer cache could have unpredictable results.

Please note that the Favorites folder is the only folder which will be completely moved immediately. The other folders are actually copied and Internet Explorer is pointed to their new locations. This is due to the fact that the original folders are protected as system folders by Windows. If the 'old' folders are not removed after your next restart, you can remove them manually via Windows Explorer.
